We went out for a walk down North Atlantic Ave hoping to find the mother of all dollar stores. It didn't quite work out and we ended up just stopping for ice cream and coffee at a McDonald's. According to a friendly local, the dollar store we were looking for was another half a mile down. We decided that the little scrappy dollar store closer to our hotel was the better choice.
The dollar store had sunglasses for a buck but nothing you'd want your kids to wear. They were just going to have to do without for a while. We headed home, dropped off the goods we bought and headed to the 2pm kiddie corner for craft making. The girls made beautiful little jewelry boxes with sea shells all over them. I'll have to get pictures up because now that I'm writing I realize I didn't take a picture of them today.
We then headed to the beach thinking we'd just look around and relax a bit. The girls would hear nothing about it and ran around the beach like maniacs. Alexandria just loves the waves coming in so she ran around in the water just having a blast.
We decided it was time to go back to the room to get changed and warm up. By this time Oma and Gramps had shown up (driving on the beach of course) so we invited them in for a beer and wine.
When they left we decided we didn't really want to sit in the room so we threw our beach chairs out the front of our room and sat in the sun. The girls snacked on dollar store junk food, I spent some time chatting with dad on Skype and Helena, well, she read her book. I did manage to tear her away from it for a second to take my picture with the girls though.
So let me get this straight......The sunglasses at the dollar store weren't good enough for your kids, but you had no problem finding FOOD good enough for them there?! Maybe if your kids didn't eat dollar store food, they wouldn't fall face first into the beach. Bad parenting indeed!
ReplyDeleteAh, palm trees, and sea shore, and fesh ocean airs,
ReplyDeleteAnd light summer duds that the beach-dweller wears,
All soaked in the surf from your toes to your hairs,
The only things stressed are the poor folding chairs,
That labor each day to support derrieres.
Poor Alexandria. Apart from the beach mishap the girls seem to be having loads of fun. Tell Alexandria that McDonald's ice cream makes me really cold too.
ReplyDeleteEd love the poem.
Thanks Rob, you made me LOL.
ReplyDeleteYo, Rob's got a point. Food from the Dollar Store is probably made in China. That could be dangerous. I remember when you wouldn't let me serve your kids chocolate cake for dessert! Anyhow, you're all looking good and yes grandpa is being poetic again. Who knows what will happen next.
